The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has announced the winners of its 2026 Focus on Safety Youth Video Contest, aimed at promoting workplace safety among youth. The first-place video, “The Book of Worksafe Wisdom,” was produced by Journey Benson and Cole Winney from Rockridge Secondary School in British Columbia.
Second place went to “Safety Olympics 2026” by Luc Lehman and Ryelan Hassan from Holy Rosary High School in Saskatchewan, while Liam Vanderplaat from Central Alberta Christian High School secured third place with “The Role of Communication at Work.” The contest encourages students to create original videos highlighting the importance of safe work practices, offering cash prizes and recognition at various levels.

- First, second, and third place winners receive $2,000, $1,500, and $1,000 respectively.

Sponsored by CCOHS, the contest challenges students and youth in Canada to create original videos that show the importance of working safely on the job. By entering the contest, participants and their affiliated organizations, institutions, or schools are given the opportunity to win cash prizes, and provincial/territorial, regional, and national recognition.
The videos were evaluated by a panel of judges including:
