A team from SCS will drive a 4.5-mile twin-bore tunnel linking Old Oak Common to Euston using two tunnel boring machines, Karen and Madeleine.
The first machine, TBM Madeleine, will be launched on the upline next week, with the second machine, TBM Karen, following around a month later on the downline.
Once fully operational, the TBMs are expected to advance at rates of up to 150m a week, reaching depths of up to 50m.
Both machines are due to arrive beneath the Euston approaches in June 2027.
Once the main tunnel drives are complete, the TBMs will be dismantled in the underground cavern beneath Parkway junction and removed in sections by lorry.
Funding is currently in place to complete the tunnels just before Euston, but the final design and funding decision for the stretches of tunnel into a rebuilt Euston station have to be confirmed.
These will be hand-dug with sprayed concrete lining. One tunnel is planned to split into two, creating a three-tunnel configuration.
This layout will provide two tunnels for arriving services and one for departures, allowing flexibility in how trains are routed into Euston platforms.
