It’s pretty rare that a photo of Lake Devo pops up on UrbanToronto, but the reflecting pool setting at Toronto Metropolitan University (properly known as Devonian Square for the charitable organization which provided the funds for its creation in 1978) provides a bit of zen in a city with reasonably few pockets of it. Among Lake Devo’s closest neighbours are the industrial unchic TMU parking garage and Yonge-Dundas cineplex to the left, and the brutal(ist) Jorgensen Hall at centre. Behind Jorgensen two crane booms pop out, one to either side of its concrete block mass, one for 8 Elm at left and one for Concord Sky at right. Both will bring new peaks to this horizon, one to either side of Aura that dominates the background.
