With homeownership in Toronto becoming increasingly unattainable for many, Latch Developments is bringing a new opportunity to Burlington’s growing market with 1989 Condominium. Located just 40 minutes west of downtown Toronto by GO train, Burlington offers access to parks, shops, and transit.

Addressed to 1989 Appleby Line in Uptown Burlington, hence its name, Latch engaged RAW to design residential towers of 17 and 22 storeys rising from a six-storey podium. Backed by Latch Developments’ decade-long experience in creating boutique communities, 1989 Condominium is a reflection of the developer’s commitment to modern design and community-focused living. The development will house 462 suites, featuring 9-foot ceilings, large windows, and contemporary finishes.

1989’s floorplans aim to avoid wasted space, with spacious dens and carefully crafted layouts. Suites will offer up expansive windows, and premium vinyl flooring that runs throughout, along with kitchens featuring engineered stone countertops and tile backsplashes, paired with stainless steel appliances, including a self-cleaning range, built-in dishwasher, and combination microwave/hood fan. Custom cabinetry will provide ample storage, and the bathrooms continue the design with stone countertops, undermount sinks, and chrome fixtures, complemented by soaker tubs or glass-enclosed showers, depending on the layout.

Most amenities are concentrated in Club 1989, located indoors and outdoors on the seventh floor. Spanning over 6,000 ft² indoors, it will serve as a central hub for residents, with co-working spaces, meeting rooms, and multiple lounges that create an extension of each home. A fully equipped fitness centre and adjacent yoga studio provide options for adults, while children’s play areas and a games room ensure use for all ages. Two private dining rooms with full kitchens and floor-to-ceiling windows will provide settings for hosting gatherings.

A 4,500 ft² landscaped rooftop courtyard expands the amenity experience. Residents will have access to barbecue areas, fire pits, and outdoor dining spaces, along with green spaces overlooking the surrounding neighbourhood.

Underground parking will provide an abundance of vehicle spaces, with dedicated areas for electric vehicle charging stations available for purchase. Further accommodations include secure storage for bicycles and storage lockers.

1989 Condominium will offer a highly walkable lifestyle, steps away from shops, restaurants, and services at nearby destinations like Appleby Crossing and Millcroft Shopping Centre. Nature enthusiasts can explore Bronte Creek Provincial Park or hike the Bruce Trail, while Spencer Smith Park and Brant Street Pier provide direct access to Lake Ontario’s waterfront. The surrounding neighbourhood includes both big-box stores and local businesses.

Burlington’s real estate market continues to attract attention for its affordability, with the developer noting that the average price per square foot for new condos is $1,039 — significantly lower than Toronto’s $1,665. Burlington’s strong price growth, with a 10-year increase of 161% compared to Toronto’s 84%, highlights the city’s long-term investment potential.

For all of these reasons and more, Burlington has become one of Ontario’s most sought-after communities. Its connections via major highways, including the 403, 407, and QEW, and rail service to Downtown Toronto at Appleby GO station makes commuting easy. Pearson International Airport is also a short drive away, while neighbouring cities like Oakville, Hamilton, and Mississauga offer even more opportunities for shopping, dining, and recreation. Burlington also has significant family-friendly appeal, with a recent study ranking its crime severity index (CSI) at 23.95, well below the national average of 78.10.

Known for focusing on walkable urban neighbourhoods, Latch’s previous projects, include The Bennett at Bayview and 859West on The Queensway. With 1989 Condominium, the developer continues its vision of delivering dynamic communities focused on a rounded lifestyle and innovative design.
