The 98th annual Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) convention will be held from February 2 to 4 at the Fairmont Royal York in downtown Toronto. Working to the theme, “Ready to build Ontario’s future together,” the 2025 event will bring together stakeholders from across the province’s transportation industry, including contractors, engineers to policy makers and suppliers.
The event will feature educational and business sessions, networking opportunities, as well as a pair of keynote speakers where experts will discuss emerging trends and technologies as the industry comes together to share knowledge that will help shape the future of Ontario’s infrastructure.
The event will open with a welcome reception on the Sunday night before kicking into high gear with Monday’s official opening session and keynote by Olympic champion Jon Montgomery. The host of The Amazing Race Canada, Montgomery’s keynote will explore the power of belief in overcoming obstacles, illustrating how the goals we set are only as achievable as our belief in them.
Also part of the Day 1 agenda are plenary and breakout sessions, an address from Ontario Premier Doug Ford, as well as an evening of fun at the Contractor’s Round Up at the Rec Room.
Day two will get rolling with a morning keynote talk by John Gibson, an AI expert who will show attendees how artificial intelligence is transforming the road infrastructure industry. Gibson will offer practical strategies on how to harness the power of AI to improve operations, streamline workflows and drive innovation.
Along with more plenary sessions, Tuesday will also put a focus on excellence as awards are presented at breakfast, followed by the presentation of the Ministry of Transportation Awards during the day’s luncheon, which will feature guest speaker Prabmeet Sarkia, Ontario’s Minister of Transportation.
Also on the agenda for Tuesday are the ORBA and OAPC annual general meetings, a fireside chat with Metrolinx interim president and CEO, Michael Lindsay, and the annual President’s Reception and Dinner, which will include more accolades, as the Hall of Fame awards and inductions are presented.
