The award is a coup for Mace, which secured the pioneering project despite Lendlease starting out as early favourite after drawing up the pre-planning demolition and construction strategy.
Under the reconstruction plan, Mace will retain around a third of the original 1970s building’s structural mass, while pioneering reuse and upcycling of materials on the 31 storey tower.
This will see the existing building core and foundations at Regent’s Place retained, while adding new low carbon structures to create a new-look 32-storey building with bigger floor-plates, increasing the new building’s size from 320,000 sq ft to 500,000 sq ft.
Euston Tower
The development will be all-electric and target BREEAM Outstanding. In operation, the building will use an all-electric heating and cooling system.
Leading the design team is Danish architect 3XN GXN supported by London-based architects Adamson Associates and with landscape design by studio DSDHA.
The professional team includes Arup as both structural and building services consultant, with Gardiner & Theobald acting as project manager and cost consultant on the project.
