Women in Construction returns on March 3 for its fifth year, with an all-star line-up of speakers and panelists set to appear at the ever-popular virtual event.
Bringing together leaders from all sectors of Canada’s construction industry, Women in Construction explores the evolving roles of women across the industry, and the strategies for supporting and making the most of these changes across your organization.

Our Inclusivity in Training panel will explore how training is ground zero for creating a generation of workers that are more engaged, knowledgeable and diverse. Moderated by the director of Conestoga College’s Jill of All Trades program, Rosie Hessian, the panel will feature Leslie Dibling, founding member and communication director for Women of Asphalt Canada, Cheyanne Hammell, manager of special projects at PCL Canada and Lorna Harnum, International representative for the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Looking to explore career paths beyond the jobsite? Our Transitioning from Tools to Management panel will look at the many forms that leadership roles can take across the sector. President of RSG International and the Canadian Association of Women in Construction Lisa Laronde, Heidelberg Materials’ Northern Alberta general manager for Aggregates Christine Feist, alongside founder of ALM Construction and Landscaping Lindsey McGarry will share their stories and advice for growing your career toward leadership roles.
We’re also honoured to have Luiza Vikhnovich, a lawyer at Sherrard Kuzz with a specialization in labour law and workplace harassment, joining us for our Let’s Talk Law Kahoot session. Test your legal knowledge – and learn a thing or two about your rights and protections – during this interactive session.

Jen Mutas, OHS field advisor for BC Crane Safety, will lead our Safety and Belonging on the Jobsite Panel. Alongside panelists Carolyn Aumiller, project manager at Bird Construction, Dianne Finnigan, CEO of women’s workwear company the Dirty Seahorse and Andrea Martin, district sales manager for White Cap Canada, this discussion will explore the impact that creating a workforce that feels like it belongs can have on building a safer work environment.
