With over 1,200 electric vehicle chargers, B.C.’s Richmond Centre has launched Canada’s largest multi-residential EV charging project.

Located near Richmond City Hall, and owned by Cadillac Fairview, Richmond Centre, in Richmond, B.C., recently opened what Electric Vehicle (EV) charger technology company Elocity Technologies Inc. says is Canada’s largest multi-residential EV charging project. Featuring 1,212 state-of-the-art Elocity smart chargers in a parkade spanning an area the size of six football fields, the project is step forward for tenant convenience and sustainable urban living.
The parkade, which was built by Axiom Builders with key project partners Natural Resources Canada, the City of Richmond, Ozz Electric, Enlightened Building Technologies and Elocity Technologies, features smart chargers equipped with advanced electrical power-sharing technology designed to make efficient use of infrastructure, balancing overall energy usage of charging vehicles and the electrical demands of the building.
Calculations suggest the project holds the potential to replace over 13 million miles of gasoline vehicle travel, with GHG reductions similar to avoiding the methane associated with half a million trash bags in landfill.
“As the end-to-end technology provider for this project, we are honoured to enable a seamless EV charging experience while reinforcing grid stability and sustainability,” stated Elocity founder and CEO Sanjeev Singh. “Our continued investment in AI-driven energy management and demand response technology makes EV infrastructure scalable, cost-efficient, and future-ready.”
“Richmond Centre is now home to one of Canada’s most comprehensive EV charging infrastructure, with every residential stall equipped with a charger at no cost to homeowners, made possible through support from Natural Resources Canada,” stated Dan Wilson, executive vice-president of residential at real estate investment, development and management company Shape Properties. “By integrating this infrastructure into the residential offering of our master-planned community, we are eliminating barriers to EV adoption.”
