The new Decommissioning and Nuclear Waste Partnership (DNWP) will deliver the next generation of high-hazard risk reduction programmes on the Cumbrian site, covering retrieval, remediation, and long-term waste management.
The four-lot deal brings together some of the nuclear sector’s heaviest hitters:

DNWP replaces the outgoing Design Services Alliance and Decommissioning Delivery Partnership and will focus on safely retrieving and treating legacy waste from Sellafield’s oldest and most complex facilities.
Sellafield’s chief supply chain officer James Riddick said the framework lied at the heart of its mission to clean up the UK’s nuclear legacy safely, efficiently, and sustainably.
Each partner has also signed up to a joint sustainability and social impact plan, which includes apprenticeships, SME engagement, non-profit support, and skills development across Cumbria.
The contract marks one of the UK’s biggest ever decommissioning partnerships, ensuring continuity of expertise and long-term investment in the region’s nuclear supply chain.
