In January, the Surety Association of Canada (SAC) announced the results of the organization’s elections to set the positions on its 2024-2025 Board of Directors. The elections followed the association’s 33rd Annual General Meeting and Conference in September where the slate of officers was presented and approved by the SAC membership.
In December, the SAC Board of Directors met to elect the officials for the upcoming fiscal year. Tom Krech, vice-president of construction surety at Chubb Insurance Company of Canada, will serve as board chair and Iqbal Bhinder, senior vice-president of contract surety at Raise Underwriting is the organization’s board vice-chair.

We also extend a warm welcome to our newest directors, Sean Linton, Glen Shaw and James Toothill.”
To support the organization’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative, at the December meeting it was also confirmed that Lezlie Abboud of Rosenberg & Parker of Canada, Inc., and Laura Delemere of Borden Ladner Gervais, LLP will continue to participate in the association’s Board Internship Program.
The SAC is the national trade advocacy association that represents the interests of the surety industry across Canada. Its members consist of primary surety firms, surety reinsurers, surety/insurance brokers, and other organizations that provide related and complementary services to the surety industry.
