The 33-hectare Enderby scheme close to Junction 21 of the M1 near Leicester will see 1,130,000 sq ft of warehouse and distribution space built with five warehouses.

Willmott Dixon came a close second with half a dozen building jobs together worth around £263m. The haul included a £100m data centre win in the Tees Valley at Preston Farm Industrial Estate in Stockton for client Latos.

Wates Construction ranked third after being awarded a £108m contract to manage vital, long-term repairs at HMP Manchester (previously known as Strangeways) and a 235-home wellbeing village in Cardiff.

Across the wider market, the top 50 contractors saw new orders plunge in March, with total contract awards dropping to £3bn from £3.65bn in the prior month.

In the rolling 12-month rankings of work won, Strabag held top spot, buoyed by its £3bn long-term Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme contract, with Mace ranking second and Balfour Beatty placed third, according to data compiled by Barbour ABI.
