A lanyard in construction is an essential part in keeping workers safe from falls. It typically refers to part of a fall arrest or fall restraint system. The lanyard is the piece of the personal restraint system which connects your harness to the rope grab and rop.

A lanyard typically comes with clips on each end. These clips than connect to the D-Rings on the harness and the O-Ring on the rope grab.

Harnesses in some situations may connect directly to the holding member such as a D-Ring on a hoist or swing stage safety cable.

There are different types of lanyards available including standard, extra long and shock absorbing lanyards.
