This video despite being a little dated is a great resource of information. Concrete is one of the most common building materials in the industry, and as a result understanding the basics is essential to any project managers role.
If you’re interested in something a little more modern and up to date which digs in to a little bit more of the science check this video out. Concrete has been around for millions of years, and as a result the recipe has been tweaked many times over.
Concrete on it’s own is great in compression, however the material isn’t a stellar performer under tension. In order to make up for concrete’s weakness in tension consider adding reinforcement to it. Reinforcement can be a mesh, carbon fibre, steel filaments or rebar. Below is a video (don’t mind the voice) that walks you through some of the different reinforcement options.
